In the 5th of his 11 starts as a two year old, Teuflesberg, ridden by Rafael Bejarano, leads the field in the Sanford Stakes at Saratoga on July 27, 2006. He finished second to Scat Daddy, who passed him just before the wire and won by a neck. Both colts are first-crop sons of Johannesburg.
Teuflesberg, ridden by Stewart Elliott, wins the Southwest at Oaklawn Park on February 19, 2007, the first of his two victories as a three year old. He won three races the year before, when he was two.
Ridden this time by Robby Albarado, Teuflesberg takes part in the post parade before the grade II Woody Stephens at Belmont Park on June 9, 2007.
Coming from last place in the seven-furlong contest for three year olds, Teuflesberg wins the Woody Stephens, followed by Most Distinguished (left) and Stormello.
Teuflesberg heads to the Belmont Park winnerís circle after the Woody Stephens. This was the final win of the coltís 21-race career, which ended four months later with a front-leg injury in the Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland.
Teuflesberg (seen here after his 4th-place finish in the King's Bishop at Saratoga, August 25th) ran in ten races as a three year old, including the Kentucky Derby. After surgery for his career-ending injury in the Phoenix Stakes he was retired to stud duty at Hurricane Hall in Versailles, Kentucky, and was later moved to Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Florida.
